Did You Know?

Built on the ruins of the Aztec city Tenochtitlan, Mexico City is currently the world's third largest metropolis after Tokyo and New York City. The sprawling metropolitan area consists of over 350 neighborhoods, many of which suffer from overcrowding and impoverished living conditions. The Centro Historico ( Historic Center ) and Zone Rosa ( Pink Zone ) are popular tourist destinations.

Because Mexico City is built on top of an underground reservoir from which water is constantly drawn, it is sinking at a rate of six to eight inches a year.
