Remember that the Sabbath, lasting from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown, will limit or shut down public transportation. Taxis are plentiful in Tel Aviv, including sherut ( shared taxis ) and monit sherut ( shared taxis operating along bus lines ).

Driving
You can drive in Israel with a foreign license; just don't expect to cross any borders with your rental car. There are two major highways of note near Tel Aviv. The Ayalon Highway is a freeway from Holon to Herzliya, and the the Cross Israel Highway ( Hwy 6 ) is a toll-way that runs North to South.
