Where To Stay

add to Travel Bag (NEW)

With over 120 hotels in the city, Geneva appears to be well prepared for meeting the needs of a tourist onslaught. However, considering the constant flow of business travelers and presidents occupying entire hotel floors, it can be surprisingly difficult to get a room. Simply put, reservations need to be made well in advance. Even the traditional low season is in demand as skiers and boarders head for the Alps over the winter.

City Centre

Hôtel Le Richemond offers stunning views of the Alps and has a sleek, modern design. The Hôtel d'Angleterre was built in the late 19th Century and features a traditional bar, interestingly named “The Library.”

The majestic lobby at the deluxe Beau Rivage holds a large marble fountain. Expect real class and style if you stay at the Rivage; it was once home to Empress Elisabeth of Austria. The recently renovated Hôtel des Bergues has a terrace, two restaurants and a bar for guests to choose from. Mont Blanc can be seen from the windows of Noga Hilton Genève, a hotel that has all of the grace and charm you would expect from the Hilton brand. For something a bit more reasonably-priced, try the Hôtel Eden, a centrally located place to stay that offers comfortable rooms.

Old City

The Old City offers a few accommodation options as well. The Hôtel Les Armures has a 17th Century interior that pairs well with the historical relevance of this district. Guests enjoy staying here because of its proximity to Saint Peter’s Cathedral and many public transportation options that will take you into the City Centre. The family-owned and operated Hôtel Bel'Espérance has laundry facilities and a kitchenette for those looking to stay in Geneva for longer than just a vacation.

Close to many restaurants and out of the way shops is the Hôtel Les Nations, so named for being close to UN and other international offices. The price is moderate and it is a popular lodging spot for many diplomats from all over the world. Another nice option for those looking to save some money is the Hotel Admiral, where the rooms offer many extras, such as air conditioning and sound-proofing. There is also a complimentary breakfast in the morning.

Les Pâquis and Les Eaux-Vives

The Hôtel Mon-Repos is close to the Mon-Repos park and Botanical Gardens. Long term stay options are also available. Named for one of the United States’ presidents, the Hôtel Président Wilson has a classic décor that features 17th Century tapestries, yet also has modern features like a swimming pool. The recently-renovated Kipling Hotel is near the UN and railway transit station, while guests stay at the Hôtel Auteuil Manotel to enjoy the nearby Pâquis Baths.

Les Eaux-Vives also has a few options for travelers. The Hôtel Century Genève and Hôtel Diplomate are close to the Eaux-Vives shopping mall and many restaurants. The elegant Hôtel Churchill can be found on a quiet street and is close to the lake and the Jet d'eau.
