The theater is named in the honor of celebrated and renowned Bob and Diana Gerding, for their efforts and contribution for the community. It has managed to strike a fine balance between modern age technology and retaining the heritage value. Being the first to be registered in the National Register of Historic Places, it has not only attained the LEED Platinum status but has also featured in the Forbes Magazine's list of greenest buildings in United States. On Thursdays, it brings together creative enthusiasts accompanied by music and drinks, to celebrate art in all forms. Currently it houses the Portland Center Stage theater company. Special tours of the theater are arranged and it can also be rented out for events like social gathering or performances.
