First Presbyterian Church was formed by a group of 10 immigrants in the mid-1850s and the current building was erected in 1887. The church is devoted to reaching out to and bettering the community through volunteering, providing child care and helping the homeless. This is just part of its extensive mission statement, which also includes fellowship in God's name. The magnificent church is also memorable because of its enormous steeple and historical appeal.
