This Portland tradition is a seasonal favorite. Every December, local sailors and boat owners decorate their vessels with lights, streamers and other finery, sometimes even broadcasting Christmas carols. Then, the skippers form a flotilla that drifts past you, sparkling against the dark sky and dancing on the misty water. It's lovely to see from any riverside perch, but especially from a cozy place like McCall's Waterfront Cafe with a toddy in hand. It's Portland's Christmas card to the world.
