Few Portlanders do not appreciate the comfort of Birkenstock sandals. This earthy downtown store was the first of its kind to open in the River City, way back in '76, and has stood the test of time through the tremulous 80s, the flippant 90s, and has moved confidently into this century. Though not cheap by any means, Birkenstocks are virtually indestructible. There are endless styles for every lifestyle, from trendy to workwear. The supply of socks will ensure toasty feet during inclement weather. Repair services are available, too.
