In Antigua, January is commonly marked for yachties. Local and regional vessels sail up for a two-day trip starting outside the historical English Harbor. The end of the first day's races is sealed by rum and revelry at Halcyon Cove on the West coast of Antigua. The second day's events continue up the North coast past the turbulent waters off Devil's bridge. Round the Island Race is an exercise for the other yacht-based events that follow during the course of the year. Spectators can watch the action at no charge. Persons wanting to participate should contact the Antigua Yacht Club.
