Eid-ul-Adha, also known as Kurban Bayrami in Turkey and Bakri Eid throughout the world, is a Muslim religious festival that is celebrated over a period of four days. The dates for this festival are in accordance with the Muslim lunar calendar. Adah is the most important day, and it falls on the 10th day of Thul-Hijjah. On this day, goats are slaughtered to remember the sacrifice Abraham made before God, in order to save his son. A special prayer is offered before the sacrifice of the animal. Eid-ul-Adah is a festive occasion when prayers are offered in the mosques, when families get together, and when peace and goodwill reign over the city.
