Whale watching on the island is best in the winter and these excursions provide the proof. See giant humpback whales in their breeding and calving grounds that surround Lanai. Breaching and diving are common and mother whales can be seen training their young in preparation for the migration north to Alaska. Other sights at sea include short-finned pilot whales, which remain around the islands all year, dolphins and turtles. Tour prices vary.
