King John granted a charter for the Midsummer Fair back in 1211, though it now exists solely as a funfair. The Mayor of Cambridge still proclaims it open by throwing coins to assembled children. You'll find all your favourite rides here: dodgems, the pirate ship and the ghost train, as well as all the traditional food stalls candy floss, hot dogs and toffee apples. Free admission.
