Every spring, an enormous plant market takes over one of the largest avenues in central Bordeaux, diverting all the traffic. You'll find some rather unusual plant species, and you can watch the birds on display in the little courtyard opposite the town hall. This really is a stroll to savour whilst munching a chichi (sugar doughnut) or pralines bought from one of the stalls sprinkled along the way.
