La Misa del Gallo, or Midnight Mass, is celebrated on Christmas Eve at the Cathedral, where the main celebration is held, and other Catholic churches throughout the country to commemorate Jesus' birth. Devout Catholics usually attend this ceremony after the family gathering and the traditional dinner on Christmas Eve. Midnight Mass begins, of course, at midnight and ends at approximately two in the morning. Regardless of your religious affiliation, the beautiful and often moving ceremony is an experience not to be missed.
