Since 1991 this concert, sponsored by the Reservas Bank of the Dominican Republic, has been celebrated every December 25th at the Santa María de la Encarnación Cathedral of Santo Domingo. A series of a capella Christmas carols and other songs accompanied by the Cathedral´s Chamber Orchestra are exquisitely intoned by the 120 voices that comprise the Cathedral´s chorus. The repertoire includes traditional Christmas tunes in Spanish, English and Latin. The event is open to the general public and is inaugurated by Cardinal Nicolás Lopez Rodriguez, the maximum Catholic authority in the Dominican Republic.
