Honoring the child Jesus, these celebrations are held throughout the predominantly Catholic Philippines. In Manila, the parades begin early and continue throughout the day. To start them off, school children fill the streets followed by groups of dancers performing traditional dance steps passed down from the first people of this area. Many floats and participants boasting various themes of Jesus as a child follow. There is no admission cost to view the parade, and most events that occur throughout this city are open to public attendance.
