The San Sebasti Feast Day in Yumbel is one of the more colorful Chilean festivals. A staggering 300,000 faithful followers gather on the town every January to pay homage to the Saint with prayers, songs and massive parades that culminate on January 20. The city becomes a blur of red and yellow as festival-goers don those colors in honor of the Saint. At night, thousands of candles lit in devotion cast a soft glow on the town and attendees. The town's population swells ten-fold for this celebration, and extra buses to and from Santiago run throughout the festival to accommodate the crowds.
