In Peru, the Christmas season is celebrated until January 6. This date, known as the Epiphany, marks the Three Kings visit to the infant Jesus. The Epiphany has a special significance in Lima, known also as the City of Kings because it was founded during the Epiphany celebrations in 1535. Today, the holiday is celebrated in Lima with dances and processions, as well as feasting. Traditional foods include Rosca de Reyes, or King's Round, which is a circular fruit-studded bread said to resemble a crown. No charge for most celebrations.
