This commemoration of the 1959 revolution led by Fidel Castro is naturally among Cuba's biggest events. Officially marking the day Castro and revolutionaries entered the city of Santiago, the day is highlighted by a variety of music, parades and other cultural events. The Museum of the Revolution tells the story of the revolution complete with documentary film, original documents and weapons displays. In the museum's garden is the boat called Granma, which brought Castro and fellow revolutionaries back to the island from Mexican exile in 1956.
