This is an event you will not want to miss. It is a celebration honoring the African roots of the Bahamian culture. The New Year's Day Junkanoo celebration combines costumed participants, a parade, dancing in the street and lots of music. You will see participants wearing intricate masks and dressed in brightly colored exotic costumes. Since this event brings in the New Year, be prepared for a wild time filled with fun and excitement. The festivities and parade are free. The parade starts around 2am and lasts for a few hours, but the partying goes on until morning.
